Shared records

Two words, same meaning: maintenance record and service record

The farm says maintenance record. The garage says service record. One link in the shared dictionary says that the two words mean the same thing, so the farm's system lists the garage's records under the farm's own word. This is native interoperability: neither system was changed to read the other's word.

What you will see

  1. The garage's record is in the farm's system, under the farm's own word.
  2. Each of the two dictionary entries lists the other under Also called.
  3. A service that you record in the garage arrives in the farm's system.

About 3 minutes. There is no sign-up. Each system asks you to choose a user. If a system opens as another user, press Switch user first.

What to try

  1. Find Meadow Lane Motors' record in Brookfield Farm

    1. In Brookfield Farm, choose Margaret Ellis.
    2. Open Machinery. If you cannot see it, press More first.
    3. Open Househam AR Sprayer.

Result An interim service from Meadow Lane Motors is under the farm's heading Maintenance records. Its Record type is the garage's word, Service Record.

  2. Open both dictionary entries

    1. Press the heading Maintenance records. The dictionary entry Maintenance Record opens and lists Service Record under Also called.
    2. Close the entry, then press Service Record on the garage's record. The entry Service Record opens and lists Maintenance Record under Also called.

Result Each entry has its own permanent identifier. Also called shows the one link between them.

  3. Record your service and watch it arrive

    1. In Meadow Lane Motors, choose Rob Ellis.
    2. Press Open on the job for AB21 TRC, the farm's John Deere tractor.
    3. Under the checklist, press Record service. Saving can take up to a minute: wait until the button no longer reads Recording.
    4. In Brookfield Farm, close the entry and the sprayer, then open John Deere 6155R.

Result Your service is the first record under Maintenance records.
